UHDMS Plant Particle Analysers (Geo Scan)

JAD was brought the challenge of assisting our client, Anglo-American Kumba Iron Ore Sishen Mine, with designing a support frame (with roof) for their new Particle Analysers/ Geo-scanners. This would involve an additional walkway (with an A-frame and concrete plinths) around the Geo-scanner, modification to the conveyor gantry, and adjusting the return path of the conveyor belt.

Here the 3D laser scanning we carried out was monumental to the project's success, as it was found that the proposed locations of the Geo-scanners were not feasible as there would have been severe modifications to existing structures. Two new positions were discovered that required minimal modifications and a new A-frame to support the structure.

Civil and structural designs were done on the plinths, additional structure, and roof, ensuring they could accommodate the new loads. Our bulk materials engineering assisted with the stresses; therefore, a new idler configuration was selected to adjust the conveyor belt return to keep it from clashing with the Geo-scanners. Complete work instructions and detailed structural drawings (including modifications to the existing conveyor gantry) were delivered to the client.

Our constant communication with the client and the OEM of the Geo-scanners ensured complete project success.
