The task was to design a new portal structure for the Particle Size Analysing (PSA) system at Anglo-American El Soldado Mine.
3D Scanning of the site was carried out, which assisted in building a realistic view of the new structure of the mine. It was also found that the initially proposed location would need to be changed as the structure would have been too close to existing overhead power lines.
A structural design was conducted to produce the portal frame with access stairs, cat ladders, and equipment (scanners, cameras, and lights) booms. Civil designs were then completed for the foundations and slabs. Blowers and ducting also needed to be designed to prevent dust from settling on the equipment lenses.
Our client could confidently complete the installation with complete structural, civil and installation drawings; and detailed installation instructions.
